This post doesn’t need a lot of words to go with it. Not a day goes by without thinking of SSG Dick Alson Lee and his family.
Edited to add: Mr. iamkimkravitz posted this on his facebook today and I wanted to share:
“Thinking today about SSG Dick Alson Lee Jr.- One year ago at 1000 in the morning I received a call that every Commander dreads. That call changed who I am as a Soldier and Leader. I will carry his name on my wrist and his memory in my soul for the rest of the time I walk on this earth. Today I reflect back on my last conversation with him before he deployed. When I asked him how he felt about deploying so soon after his last deployment, he said “Sir, I don’t want to go but I’m an NCO and I do whatever I’m told to do. I’ll see you in a few months.” His commitment to the Army and dedication to being a dog handler is an inspiration to me as a Soldier. Today I grieve for his family’s loss and the sacrifice he made, even as I try to celebrate the life he lived. I ask each of you who read this to take a moment to stop whatever your doing and honor his sacrifice. Rest In Peace SSG Dick Alson Lee Jr, you will not be forgotten!”
