I’m not going to lie

I’m stuck in a rut. With my photography. I know I’ve mentioned it a few times, but this past shooting season just wore me out. I thought taking time off during winter break would recharge my battery. Well, it didn’t. I’m still feeling blah, not creative, insert other crappy descriptive words here. Over the past few days I’ve been thinking of ways to get my spark back. I plan on trying a different genre or two. I’m going to plan more photography get togethers. They won’t be like the normal ones I’ve planned, though. I want to plan smaller, more intimate get togethers with 2-3 photographers and a model. I want do casting calls and shoot for fun. Yeah, I feel like I’m whining lol :P. I’m just trying to find my way back to enjoying photography.

Another thing that I’ve done is started shooting our life more. I’m carrying my camera more often to capture OUR moments. It’s been extremely therapeutic! A few days ago I changed my settings to monochromatic and shot the entire day in black and white. It was pretty cool if I do say so myself. We chilled at home and did nothing and I captured it all!

While I was working on orders tonight I decided to edit an image from that black and white day. Kelcie had a hay day in the bath tub. I’m absolutely in love with her expression. She is such a water baby! She would live in the water if it was possible.

Linda - Kim I love the idea of shooting an entire day in black and white. And I’ll bet you are so glad you did b/c this photo is adorable! Photography ruts can be so hard but as long as you keep thinking outside the box like this you’ll be past it in no time.ReplyCancel
