Many of my virtual assistant post processing clients do not give me permission to share their images, so I rarely have anything to share with all of you. So, I dug back in my archives and will be sharing some before and after’s here on the blog. This will give you an opportunity to see how I can transform your images with a full edit. Outsourcing your editing will help you get out from behind the computer screen giving you the opportunity to shoot more!

essential_camera_skillsAre you new to photography? Or maybe you just need to a refresher course on how to properly use your camera? I know, I know. All of our gear comes with a “how to” book, but let’s be honest, the damn thing seems like it’s written in a foreign language. I found mine to be very intimidating and never looked at it again. HA! I took the time to find a solution, though. … Extremely Essential Camera Skills by Photography Concentrate.

Photography Concentrate took the time to put together this great PDF guide about how to use your camera, what most of the buttons do, and the correct name for everything. Why do I recommend this one over all of the other ones out there? I recommend it because they wrote their content in a very easy to understand manner and it’s affordable. When I first started my photography career, like many of you, I had to teach myself and did not have a disposable income to attend a workshop yet. This guide was one of the first PDF’s I turned to to make sure I understood the basics. Photography Concentrate, also, includes video tutorials along with this PDF so it’s like a BOGO! And who doesn’t love a BOGO?! So, go check out their website. They have other guides and a few free resources too!

Remember, once you learn the rules, you get to break them and be creative!

Amber - You’re so right- They DEFINITELY need to hire another writer for those books that come with the camera. Those things are impossible to understand, they are so technical, with no modern analogies!

Your photography work is beautiful! I used to photograph a LOT and I’ve been wanting to get back into it. I used to be a family/lifestyle photographer, but I never felt 100% happy taking photos of other people’s children whom I had just met. Now I focus on branding and web design work, and I’m really happy with it, but miss photography! I may make it just a personal hobby. I also love having physical photos to look back at.

How long have you been a photographer?

This is my first visit to your website, and I’m glad to have found it :)

Kim Kravitz - Thanks Amber!! I’ve been a photographer for a little over 7 years now. :)ReplyCancel

In July, my Facebook group for photographers decided to do a monthly image contest. What are the rules you might ask? They’re pretty simple. We post a theme and you can share up to three images that you feel fit within that theme and the person with the most likes at the end of the month wins. July’s theme was SUMMER, and July’s winner is Ryan from Ryan Murphy Photography located in Montana. Pretty sweet image, huh?

Thank you Ryan for participating in our monthly challenge!

Amber - Beautiful photo! Maybe I’ll have to join the group one I get back into photography, which actually may be really soon because visiting your site is inspiring me so much :) I would love honest feedback on my work.ReplyCancel

GAH!!! I know it might now seem like a big deal BUT my desk, computer, and Starbucks cup are back in my office!!! The thing I love the most about my new space is the separate entrance. SO, no more walking through the house to get to my office and attached 1/2 bath!

My New Office in Bella Vista, Arkansas Photographer

I am so ready to get back to our “normal.” We’re still drowning in boxes from our move to Bella Vista, Arkansas but it’s slowly but surely coming together! Within the next few weeks the kid’s will be back in school, I’ll be back to work, and Aaron will be enjoying retirement. :)

Kat - It’s so nice to have a work space to call your own, isn’t it?! Good luck with getting back into your “normal” routine — if such a thing even exists. :)

Aaron is the cooker in the family. He loves to try new recipes and could always use a new gadget for cooking. His latest addition is a smoker! It got a few dings during the move, but it still works like a charm. He’s had this for about a year now and has had many opportunities to try new recipes. His latest concoction was a BBQ chicken and brats.
