This is your warning about my public service announcement. I’m ranting and I know it. I’m frustrated and HIGHLY annoyed. So, read on if you want too.
There is a reason why I am so picky on who I let photograph me and who I won’t. I posted this collage images on my instagram and on my personal facebook a few hours ago. I feel like I need to explain what I meant by it.
My caption to this image was: “#PHOTOGRAPHERS: learn what good lighting is and how to use it before you start calling yourself a professional. Please. If you can’t do this stop shooting. #learntoseethelight #rantover”. Now where did this come from? Well, I saw the before and after pictures from the Biggest Loser challenge I did with my local gym. I’m extremely disappointed in their choice of “professional photographer” that they chose to photograph these. I shit you not, the images looked like the first image in the set above. That is in no way a professional image. Hell my third image in the set above is better than the before and afters that the other photographer delivered and I shot these with my iPhone.
I’m not posting this to rat anyone out or bash anyone. I’m post this out of pure frustration by people calling themselves a professional or a premier photographer and they aren’t. Photographers, I’m begging with you to learn you equipment. Learn to see light and how to photograph someone before you pass yourself off as a professional. I lost 10 pounds and 6% body fat doing that Biggest Loser challenge. I feel freaking awesome about that!! But, that awesomeness went away with one crappy image. Is that really how you want your clients to feel?
